Review

Reversible Reactions is a physics simulation model. It simulates how chemical reactions occur at a microscopic level. To do that it uses a container split into two by means of a barrier. You can add molecules to each of the sides, named A and B. There is no clear mention of what kind of molecules they are, though. When you add the molecules into the containers, they start moving and you can influence the way they move by adding or removing heat. If you add a lot of heat, molecules go crazy and start jumping from one side of the container to the other. That is a reaction. You can change the height of the barrier to make reactions more unlikely.

In the case of this simulation, even the developers suggest that it be used with a teacher present. It might seem very basic, but there is a lot of data that can be collected by using it. On the website, there is a lot of sample goals. They include: learning how temperature affects a reaction, how to use graphs and other types of data to establish when equilibrium is reached, and many more.

The application was built on Java. So any web browser or operating system that is Java-capable can run it; no installation is required.
